1. Hiking in the forest
For this “well-being” week in Saint Jean de Monts, we suggest you start gently with a hike in the forest.
Recharge your batteries in the shade of the trees, sheltered from the wind, by taking a walk in the Pays de Monts forest near our hotel.
What's better than a walk in the forest to connect with nature and discover, or rediscover, what it has to offer? Hiking has benefits on the physical, but also on the morale: it maintains your muscles, strengthens your skeleton and joints, reduces your stress and makes you happier.
If you want to benefit from all these benefits, you will need to go hiking at least 3 times a week, and for at least 30 minutes.
In Japan, shinrin-yoku or forest bathing is a very popular medical practice. Sylvotherapy invites you to get closer to nature, to connect with the trees. In concrete terms, you lean against the trunks, hug them or lie down at their foot, all five senses alert. Could this be the secret to well-being in your body and mind?
2. Walk in the ocean
On this second day, we suggest you enjoy the beach of Saint Jean de Monts, the sun and the salt water by walking in the ocean.
Today, you were planning to bask in the sun? Why not combine sunbathing with relaxation? Go and cool off in the ocean and walk in the water along the beach. Let yourself be carried away by the rhythm and sound of the waves, let the water envelop you and free your mind. Feel the sand under your feet, the smell of iodine, the sensation of the water surrounding you, the wind blowing.
Depending on your desire and energy, you can practice this water walk up to your ankles, up to your knees or, more difficult, up to your waist.
Did you know that fresh water (because yes, let's not lie to ourselves, the water temperature in the Pays de Saint Jean de Monts rarely exceeds 22 °C) is beneficial for the body? Fresh water wakes up, tones, de-stresses, relieves pain, limits muscle fatigue and many other good things... Walking in sea water will work your muscles without brutality and will allow you to have fun far from your daily life.
3. Bike
For this new day, here is an activity that will allow you to discover the Pays de Saint Jean de Monts in a different way: cycling.
The Vélodyssée, which connects Roscoff to Hendaye, passes almost at the foot of our hotel. Why not take advantage of it to stretch your legs? As a bonus, the Pays de Saint Jean de Monts offers many cycle paths accessible to all, without elevation, between forests, dunes, marshes and villages. You will be delighted to explore all these Vendée landscapes. Far from traffic jams and traffic, it is a way to discover the surroundings of the hotel in a different way.
Just like hiking, cycling has benefits for your mind and body. It relaxes you and works your muscles. By going for a bike ride, in addition to taking care of yourself, you will be taking care of the planet by leaving your car behind for a while.
Did you know that the World Health Organization recommends at least 30 minutes of physical activity per day?
4. Trail between dunes and forest
To continue this week under the sign of well-being, here is an activity that will take some of you out of your comfort zone: trail running.
Grab the best shoes you brought with you and hit the trails. Trail running, which means “path” in English, is simply running in a natural environment, on paths, hence the name.
You will find several circuits near our hotel, because the Pays de Saint Jean de Monts is a trail resort. Thanks to the "On piste" application you can easily find all the trails in the area, and, with geolocation, you will not be able to get lost between the dunes and the forest of the Pays de Monts. For those who want to put down their mobile phone, all the routes are marked. Among the 12 offered, you will necessarily find one adapted to your level. And it is not forbidden to alternate running and walking, you are on vacation after all!
5. Yoga on the beach
Today we offer you two activities in one: doing yoga while admiring the sunset.
Having the beach just a 10-minute walk away is a real luxury. So if we say ocean, sun, horizon, evening… sunset should resonate with you. Let's go for a gentle activity in front of an exceptional panorama: yoga on the beach.
For this fifth “well-being” activity, a beach towel will suffice; you can also carry out the activity directly on the sand.
- Posture 1 Yoga-Mudra
Sit cross-legged. Keep your back straight and your hands on your knees. Inhale deeply and then exhale as you lean forward until your head is as close to the ground as possible, without forcing it too much. You can also join your hands behind your back with your arms outstretched.
- Posture 2 Vakrasana
Sit cross-legged. One foot comes against the buttock, the other in front of the bent knee. The opposite hand will rest on this foot. The other is placed flat on the ground behind you. Look behind you, back straight. Breathe calmly, regularly.
- Posture 3 Paschimotasana
Lie on your back with your arms at your sides. Inhale deeply. Straighten up as you exhale. Hands grasp your ankles or feet. Head moves closer to your knees without bending your legs. Return to the starting position as you inhale. Relax completely as you exhale.
6. Jogging on the beach
To start the day off on the right foot, we invite you to the beach for a jog.
You can take advantage of the tranquility and freshness of the morning to go for a little jog on the beach in an idyllic setting. Not a fast-paced run, the goal is not to exhaust yourself physically, especially if you are not used to running. Go at your own pace.
Before any physical exercise, it is important to prepare your muscles and warm up, you can repeat certain yoga figures to stretch for example.
Running on sand requires a more complete and greater muscular effort than on roads or paths. It is an excellent way to strengthen muscles. Choose well-packed wet sand and avoid running barefoot...
With the ocean as a panorama of your race, your motivation will certainly be increased tenfold!
7. Thalasso
To end this “well-being” week with a gentle activity so that you can take care of your body: thalassotherapy.
What could be better than spending a morning or an afternoon, or even the whole day if you feel like it, worrying about nothing else but yourself? That's good, there is a thalassotherapy center in Saint Jean de Monts! Imagine yourself, comfortably installed in a hydromassage bath, in the warmth of the hammam or sauna and thinking about nothing else than your well-being. You could also, for example, enjoy a good massage or a relaxing massage. This thalassotherapy break will allow you to relieve your muscle pain following a somewhat sporty hike or an afternoon of cycling for example, and to refocus on yourself and your pleasures. Make yourself your priority during this special moment.
So, that's the end of this "well-being" program for your vacation in Saint Jean de Monts. Anything goes: you can follow it to the letter or just pick up one or two ideas. The important thing is you and your well-being!
